Gadgety Cooking

qrcodeAnybody seen 'The Good Cook' on BBC1? Award winning food writer, Simon Hopkinson, presents a slow paced, brilliantly designed programme that shows just how much he loves to cook. But more than that, for the likes of techno geeks like me, at the end of every recipe a QR Code like the one shown here appears on the screen and if you have the technology, you can scan it with your smartphone and your browser opens the website at the recipe. How cool is that?
So get the Neoreader (or similar) app and have a go by scanning this one.
Also - beyond the technology, the recipes are really good too. In the 3rd episode, he makes a cheese and onion tart that is completely different to the one I posted yesterday. Looks like it's worth a try though.

I'm always on the lookout for new gadgets so there was an interesting article in The Times today for a limited edition 'pencil sharpener' for Parmesan cheese. It's an easy way to create perfect Parmesan shavings for the top of your pasta. Simple and brilliant. Unfortunately, only 500 were made and they sold out in a jiffy (in Italy) so I guess I'll have to keep a lookout on eBay.
(Or keep on using my tattie peeler).
